Experiences

Trying to figure out what to do in Osaka can be very overwhelming as there is just so much to try! While most tourists stick to karting around the streets, go to (questionable) animal cafes & buy overpriced street food in Dotombori, you naturally want to be, and do, better… right? Here are some of my tried and tested recommendations.

Go Mochi-pounding

Mochi Pounding is a traditional Japanese way of making mochi (glutinous rice cakes). Steamed rice is pounded in a large mortar with a wooden mallet until smooth and sticky. It’s often done as a festive event, especially for the New Year, symbolizing good fortune.

Mochi Pounding is a cultural tradition that every Japanese person has experienced at least once. This is a cultural experience that can only be had in Osaka, Japan. See the website here for further information and on how to book: https://www.mochi-pounding.com/

Cook your own Mochi
